About the Course

Join Michael Pfeifer, Ph.D., P.E. for this two session course from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm ET on

  • May 24th
  • May 29th

Many products contain components and joints whose materials are sub-optimum. The result is products with performance, reliability, and cost problems, failed product tests, materials degrade during use, components cost too much, suppliers whose products do not consistently meet requirements, and components/joints that are difficult to fabricate. These problems are often due to the lack of a rigorous materials selection process during product design

In this highly interactive webinar-style course you will learn the engineering process for selecting materials. This process includes consideration of component/joint requirements for performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturing early in the design process. Use of the process enables design of components/joints whose materials are optimized, enabling products to meet their performance, reliability, and cost requirements, and also help keep projects on schedule.

What You'll Learn

The following topics will be covered:

  • Materials selection process
  • Identifying product and component/joint design requirements
  • Identifying materials selection criteria
  • Identifying candidate materials
  • Evaluating materials to determine their suitability: properties, performance, reliability, ease of manufacturing/assembly, and cost
Target Audience

Engineers involved with product design and development

Registering for the Webinar

The fee is $249 per person. After registering you will receive an email within a few hours with information about how to access each of the webinar sessions. In addition to the webinars, you'll get 7-day access to a recording of the webinars.
