This course covers determination of the air content of freshly mixed concrete from observation of the change in volume of concrete with a change in pressure.
The course takes approximately 1 hour to complete and includes instructional video content, interactive knowledge checks, and a self-grading quiz. Downloadable resources include a pdf of the standard.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
- Identify the operational principles and requirements for type A and B meters.
- Describe the parameters for calibration of the apparatus, including conditions that may impact calibration and what information shall be maintained in the records.
- Recognize the steps for determination of aggregate correction factor and sample preparation prior to test.
- Recall how the sample shall be placed and consolidated, and differentiate when rodding and vibration are to be used.
- Recall the procedures for determination of the air content of freshly mixed concrete using the Type A and B Meters.
Audience
Anyone who runs the C231 test method or who needs an understanding of the test method and how it is properly run.
