About the Course

This comprehensive course provides an in-depth understanding of the ASTM D 396-24 specification, which defines various grades of fuel oil used in different types of fuel-burning equipment across diverse climatic and operational conditions. Participants will explore the characteristics and performance criteria of fuel oil grades, including No. 1 S5000, No. 1 S500, No. 2 S5000, and No. 2 S500 for domestic and small industrial burners; No. 4 (Light) and No. 4 (Heavy) for commercial and industrial applications; and No. 5 (Light), No. 5 (Heavy), and No. 6 for industrial burners.

The course will cover key analytical parameters, testing methodologies, and proper handling techniques to ensure fuel quality and compliance with ASTM standards. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of maintaining uniformity in residual component-containing grades during storage to prevent separation and viscosity inconsistencies.
